Tap In To East Van: A Neighbourhood Brewery Is Opening Its Doors to Investors

Some raises are interesting because of the numbers. This one is interesting because of the neighbourhood.

East Van Brewing Co. — the taproom, patio, and local gathering spot that’s been a fixture on Venables Street since 2017 — is preparing to launch a community equity round on FrontFundr. The campaign isn’t live yet, but it’s worth getting on your radar now, because this is the kind of raise that builds momentum fast: a beloved local brand, a founder with deep roots in the neighbourhood, and a customer base that already shows up.

The Man Behind the Beer

East Van Brewing’s story starts long before 2017, with owner with Steve Jennings.

Steve has spent his entire career in Vancouver hospitality — behind the bar at 19, opening nearly one pub a year through the 2000s with his longtime business partner Jeff Donnelly, before stepping out on his own in 2010 with The London Pub, still a neighbourhood staple today. The London Pub is where the seed for East Van Brewing was planted. By the time he opened the brewery’s doors, Steve wasn’t a first-time founder chasing a dream, he was a 30-year hospitality veteran building the kind of space he’d spent his whole career learning how to create.

A lot of breweries are built by people who just love beer. East Van Brewing was built by someone who spent decades studying what makes a room come alive — and then built a brewery around that. (He also loves beer).

More Than a Brewery, It’s A Neighbourhood Institution

East Van Brewing not only operates in the neighbourhood it’s named after, it’s uniquely structured around it.

The tasting room seats 100 inside with another 36 on a dog-friendly outdoor patio, which is truly the heartbeat of the business — live music, DJ nights, trivia, World Cup watch parties, private bookings, you name it. The taproom alone drives roughly 70% of East Van Brewing’s revenue, which tells you how much the in-person experience matters to this brand, and to the customers who have become long-time regulars.

It’s also bigger than just the brewery. East Van Brewing shares its space with two partner businesses under one roof: Glitch Arcade & Games Room (classic arcade games, darts, bubble hockey) and Barley & Rye (the kitchen, handling all of East Van Brewing’s food service). Three businesses, one building, each one feeding foot traffic and dwell time to the others.

And the loyalty shows up in the numbers: 8+ years of quality brewing, $11M+ in cumulative revenue, and 50%+ repeat customers — in a craft beer market where loyalty is notoriously hard to earn.

This is a brand that’s genuinely woven into the East Van fabric, too — they’ve partnered with local urban beekeepers, support local charities like the CKNW Kids’ Fund, and lean into the neighbourhood’s own nickname for itself: “Yeast Van.”

Award-Winning Beer And A Following to Match

The beer itself backs the story. East Van Brewing has picked up hardware at the BC Beer Awards and the Canadian Brewing Awards — bronze for their Honey Brown Ale, silver for the Porter, and gold for the Nitro Stout — alongside a current lineup that spans lagers, pale ales, pilsners, IPAs, hazy ales, and a rice lager.

The brand has also landed on the radar of Vancouver’s food press, with features in outlets like Daily Hive Vancouver, Scout Magazine, and Noms Magazine, and pours in respected accounts across the city and beyond — including Fairmont Pacific Rim, Four Seasons Resort Whistler, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, and Sing Sing Beer Bar.

What’s Brewing Next

Part of what makes this raise worth watching is that East Van Brewing is protecting what’s been built, but also, expanding. On deck for 2026: a non-alcoholic beer (the aptly named Slow Lane Lager), a new cider line (Smashed Apple), and a seltzer line, all designed to tap into some of the fastest-growing categories in beverage without requiring new infrastructure.

There’s also a timing angle that’s hard to ignore: with the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place in Vancouver, East Van Brewing — already a go-to spot for watching the game — is positioned to capture a meaningful wave of event-driven revenue this year.

The Opportunity: Why It’s Worth It

Here’s what you need to know about the raise:

  • Platform: FrontFundr
  • Launch: Targeting Mid-July 2026
  • Fundraising goal: $250,000 (with a $1M stretch goal)
  • Pre-money valuation: $2.5M ($3M post-money)
  • Equity offered: 17%, common shares, $1 per share
  • Minimum investment: $250

For BC residents, there’s an added incentive: East Van Brewing qualifies for the BC Investor Tax Credit, worth 30% of an eligible investment. A $5,000 investment, for example, comes with a $1,667 tax credit — on top of the equity itself.

Investor perks scale with check size too, starting with a free monthly beer and app credit at the $250 tier and climbing all the way to private events, co-creating a beer release, and VIP access across East Van Brewing and The London Pub at the top end.

The campaign will kick off with a launch event at the East Van Brewing taproom, and the team has a few investor webinars planned across the campaign, covering the founder’s story and the raise itself. They’ll cover mid-campaign progress updates and a final “last chance” session before close.

Watch this space! We’ll share the FrontFundr link and webinar registration details the moment they’re live — but if you’ve ever pulled up a stool at the East Van Brewing bar, this is the kind of raise you’ll want to act on early.

As Steve puts it:

“If you believe in East Van and what we’re creating here, we’d love to have you involved.”
